An at-a-glance look at The Children's Museum at La Habra.
It is our mission to encourage enthusiasm about learning in a hands-on environment that opens the world even to the youngest child.
- Opened in December 1977 and is located in a historic 1923 Train Depot.
- One of only a few children's museums to open on the West Coast during the 1970s.
- 10,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits about the arts, sciences, world cultures and everyday life.
The Children's Museum at La Habra has an average of 95,000 children, parents and teachers that visit annually.
Our Museum features 7 galleries and 14 different hands on exhibits, many of which remain unique to the field today. In addition to these exhibits, an outdoor dinosaur topiary and historic 1942 caboose, the Museum features an exhibit which changes 2 times a year.

Put on a vest and a pith helmet and uncover fossils at our Paleo-Camp. Look through a microscope and examine teeth, claws and insects trapped in amber! Who was the very first person to discover a dinosaur bone? Who is making discoveries even now, at the cutting edge of the dinosaur fields in China? How has our world changed? What does a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a chicken have in common? (You might be surprised!) Learn the answers to these questions as you join us in our journey through time.

Before Europeans landed on our shores, North America was home to many diverse First Nations peoples. Their stories are deeply cultural and spiritual, and reflect the natural wonder of and the close relationship to the land in which we live. Our 2020 Spring Changing Gallery Exhibit, American Native, will explore some of the First Nations cultures from around the country with a special emphasis on our home state of California’s tribes and culture. Little visitors will enjoy and understand the fun and play of Native children, past will meet present, stories and music will greet you, as the Children’s Museum at La Habra invites you to explore American Native.
